Printfila
Two of us, one printer, and a flat that’s filling up with prototypes. The first batch is nearly ready.
Why we bother
We design things that hold up.Shapes that print clean, without a forest of supports.Nothing that only works as a render.Colour you won’t find in a shop.
Everything gets lived with here first. If it warps in a warm room, or the layer lines catch the light wrong, it doesn’t leave the desk.
The models
Drawn to be printed
Every shape has to survive a real printer before it counts: nothing that needs a forest of supports, no detail that disappears at 0.2 mm, no overhang we would have to apologise for.
We might put the files up so people can print them wherever they are. Still deciding.
How it’s made
One layer
at a time
A 0.2 mm layer is about two sheets of paper. Something hand-sized is seven hundred of them, one on top of the last, on the one printer we own. That is most of why the first batch is taking a while.
- A Draw Modelled until the proportions stop annoying us.
- B Slice Walls and infill set for whatever the thing has to survive.
- C Print Hours of it. We watch the first layer, then leave it alone.
- D Finish Seam trimmed, brim cleaned off, then it gets handled and argued about.
Back of the mat
try the ribbed one again but
thinner walls — 3 not 4

One email, when it’s ready
Leave an email and you’ll get one message when the first batch is ready to look at. There’s no newsletter. We wouldn’t keep one up anyway.
Or if you already know what you want us to make, send us a photo.
